Introduction 

Although dance performances can occur anywhere, a dance production, or dance concert, typically involves dance performed on a stage with lights, costumes, and music, and the production may include scenery, props, and other technical elements. Today, we will be working on the music of your individual solos.

 Follow the Following Steps: 

a. Dance a character outside your comfort zone.

b. Push for tougher choreography.

c. Analyze every step.

d. Study your transitions.

e. Fill in the blanks on your own.(2)

As you go through every step described above, write a reflection on your progress.

The musical backdrop creates a mood or atmosphere for the dance that will color how the audience sees and experiences it. The rhythm, or pattern of beats in the music, can influence the speed and phrasing of the movement.(3)

Music has many different fundamentals or elements. Depending on the definition of "element" being used, these can include: 

pitch, 
beat or pulse, 
tempo, 
rhythm, 
melody, 
harmony, 
texture, 
style, 
allocation of voices,
timbre or color, 
dynamics, 
expression,
articulation, 
form 
structure.

Once you choose your music, try to describe it using the elements mentioned above that apply to your music piece.
